Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) Seminar Series

The Graduate and Professional Studies office launched the “Preparing Future Faculty” (PFF) seminar series in 2023, in order to prepare Engineering graduate students and early career researchers to pursue careers in academia. The seminar was well received and we have decided to continue to offer an updated version in 2024. Visit our PFF page for full seminar details and the latest on sessions we are hosting.

Engineering NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Preparation

The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the vitality and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and in STEM education.  The GRFP provides three years of support for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant research achievements in STEM and STEM education.  NSF especially encourages women, members of underrepresented minority groups, persons with disabilities, and veterans to apply. NSF also encourages undergraduate seniors to apply.

At the School of Engineering, we provide preparation webinars and writing workshops in the Fall of each application cycle. Make sure to check our Engineering GRFP page for the latest news of Engineering recipients and details for any sessions we are hosting.

Graduate Professional Success for STEM PhDs and Postdocs (GPS-STEM)

GPS-STEM better prepares STEM scientists for a variety of careers within the STEM workforce, and empowers them to become not only skilled scientists, but also polished professionals. The program works to create, identify and support innovative approaches to broaden the graduate and postdoctoral training.

Most GPS-STEM events and activities are open to all graduate students and postdocs across campus. However, in order to take full advantage of programming, the office encourages students to become a member.

Check out the GPS-STEM page for additional information on events and programming.

The Samueli School of Engineering is a proud sponsor of the program.
